Plan your move-out
Give formal notice to vacate, provide a forwarding address, track your deposit refund, and monitor state-mandated return deadlines.
Submit your notice of intent to vacate
Action: Fill in your move-out date, reason (e.g., 'End of lease term' or 'Job relocation'), forwarding address, and any notes for your landlord. Click Submit to send the notice. Most states require 30 days written notice, so check your lease for the exact requirement.
The move-out date must be today or later. Your landlord receives the notice immediately by email. You can edit or withdraw your notice at any time until the move-out date arrives.

Track your deposit refund deadline
Action: Once submitted, the Move-Out Center shows a countdown timer for your deposit refund. The state rule at the top shows the number of days your landlord has to return your deposit and itemized deductions (e.g., '30 days per state law'). If the deadline is past due, a red banner alerts you.
Every state has a legal deadline, usually 30 to 45 days. Rentari.ai counts down automatically so you know when to escalate if you do not receive your refund.

Review itemized deductions as they come in
Action: When your landlord settles your account, the page shows the refund amount and any itemized deductions (repairs, cleaning, etc.). Once the refund is issued, it displays the refund date and final amount.
Keep your move-in condition report handy to dispute unfair deductions. If you disagree with any charge, contact your landlord in writing with your evidence.
