Create a lease addendum and prepare it for signature
Choose an existing lease, enter the change and review the document and signers.
On this page
Before you start
- Choose the correct lease and identify the change, its effective date and the people who need to sign. Review the existing agreement before entering new terms.
Prepare the addendum
- Open Build a lease addendum and choose the existing lease. Check the rental and current term shown on the form.
- Under What is the addendum for?, select the type of change, such as Rent change, Term change or Custom.
- Complete the fields for that type. Check the amounts, dates and wording against the change you intend to document.
- Choose Generate & send for signature. This opens the separate Who needs to sign the document? page.
- Open Preview and read the generated addendum. Check the selected signers and their email addresses, the message and when you will sign.
- When ready, choose Send for signature and read the result. Follow the request in Docs & E-Sign.
If generation or sending stops
Read any error on the form and correct the indicated field before trying again. A signer with No email on file cannot be selected. A generated draft or a pending signature request does not mean everyone has signed or that the lease change is complete.
Check the result
- The workflow prepares an addendum document and signature request when those steps succeed. Read the request status; a generated draft is not a fully signed change.
Troubleshooting & questions
Why can I not select one of the signers?
A person with No email on file cannot be selected. Review their contact details and the intended signing list before sending.
Does Generate & send for signature mean the change is complete?
No. Review the generated document, any subsequent preparation or payment step, and the recorded signature status. Completion requires the relevant signing steps to finish.
The form returned an error. Should I generate another addendum?
Correct the indicated field and check whether a draft or request already exists before generating another copy. Use the existing record when the earlier step succeeded.
