Landlords Get Paid

Record a partial payment received outside Rentari

Apply only the amount you received to the correct tenant and charges.

Before you start

  • Confirm that you actually received the money and check whether it was already recorded.
  • Have the lease, payer, payment method, date and amount ready. Decide which unpaid charges the amount covers.

Record the money already received

  1. Open Record payment and select the lease, then the tenant who paid.
  2. Select the charges the payment covers. A disabled charge includes a reason it cannot be selected.
  3. For each selected charge, enter the actual Amount received. Check the allocations against the total you received.
  4. Choose the payment method and Date Paid. Any Payment Note you add is visible to the tenant.
  5. Choose whether to send a receipt, then select Record Payment and check the resulting payment record.

Avoid recording it twice

This records a payment taken elsewhere; it does not collect money from a bank or card. Check existing payment activity first if you are unsure whether someone already recorded it.

Check the result

  • The saved payment record shows the selected payer, date and allocations; the unpaid remainder stays on the lease.
  • If you selected a receipt, review the submission result for its delivery outcome separately from the payment record.

Troubleshooting & questions

Why is a charge disabled or missing from this form?

Read the reason beside a disabled charge and confirm the selected lease. A paid or otherwise unavailable charge is not eligible for the same recording action. Review existing activity before creating another charge to work around the restriction.

How should I record less than the full balance?

Enter the actual Amount received for each selected charge and compare Total received with the money you received. Do not mark the full amount paid for a partial receipt. The remaining balance stays unpaid.
